My name is Judith Matlou and I am originally from Moletji ga Kolopo in Polokwane, Limpopo province. I completed my matric at Kgomotso Comprehensive high school and my results were not as good as I wanted them to be so I cannot share them with you. I am currently studying towards a B.A degree in International Relations and Diplomacy and my major is International Politics.
I believe that this thematic area is indeed necessary to engage with world politics. It provides me with the platform to learn, critique, and analyse issues that pertain to finding solutions to problems that the world encounters, hence, my area of interest which is International Relations. It involves engaging and exchanging epistemological knowledge with people, organisations, institutions and countries. I believe that since we live in a global society, we need to learn as much as we can from each other and to become co-creators. So for me, it starts with understanding world politics.
My current focus which is my first priority is to complete my undergraduate degree this year (2013) and register for honours in the year 2014. I will definitely continue with my post graduate studies and hopefully become an associate professor.
My exposure within the higher learning environment, participation in the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community and involvement in Community Engagement projects has helped shape my vision. I now have an idea of what it will take for me to become an astute academic.
My plan within the next 10 years is to grow in a strategic role within an organisation and/or institution. Ten years from now I want to have made a positive and lasting impact in Academia and society at large
In the quest to find solutions for societal challenges, I believe that communities, organisations and institutions need leaders who will, without compromise take a stand for a preferred future. My biggest dream is to see an Africa that is informed. To see communities, institutions and organisations that pride themselves in being innovators and individuals that understand that learning does not mean just the acquiring of more information but as expanding the ability to produce the results we truly want in life. In seeking to influence activities in my community and the institutions and organisations that I am involved in, the projects I chose to devote my time to, speak to the heart of transformation, knowledge production, youth development and community engagement.
My interests include Reading, writing, International Relations, Business, Research, Gender studies, Gender mainstreaming, Community Engagement and Youth development.
